Genoa

Genoa is capital city of Liguria and separates the region in „Riviera di Ponente“ to the west and „Riviera di Levante“ to the east. Genoa is called "la superba" (the proud one) because of its gorgeous palaces. In 2004 it was European Capital of Culture and in 2006 the splendid "Palazzi Rolli" of Genoa were appointed UNESO World Heritage Site. Because of its high palaces and the small alleys („caruggi“) Genoa is also called "vertical city". It is famous for a big variety of cultural sites and the big harbour.
